Tomorrow, November 30th, 2016, the House of Representatives will vote on a massive bipartisan healthcare research bill, known as the 21st Century Cures Act, to grant the National Institutes of Health (NIH) $4.8 billion dollars. The legislation will fund research on the brain, cancer, and individualized medicine based off of a patient’s unique genetic makeup. Other stipulations of the bill include the creation of a Research Policy Board to provide recommendations to the government on how to effectively reduce regulatory burden on researchers.
